99-Year-Old Gsa Gsa Gabor’s Advice On Men, Sex, And Marriage

The glamorous and amusing 99-year-old Hungarian actress Gsa Gsa Gabor is gone, but her philosophy will live on forever. The darling of talk shows in the 1960’s and 70’s, she called everyone “dahhling” and lived life to the fullest. She would say outrageous stuff for the time like “What is really important for women, you know, even more important than being beautiful or intelligent, is to be entertaining.”

Crowned Miss Hungary in 1936, the young beauty moved to Hollywood in 1941 with her two sisters, Magda and Eva (who starred in Green Acres in the 1960’s.) Her first film role was a supporting role in Lovely to Look At.  She later acted in We’re Not Married! and Moulin Rouge (1952). In 1958 she starred in the cult sci-fi classic The Queen of Outer Space.

But her claim to fame was her 9 marriages (including one to hotel mogul Conrad Hilton and her last, younger husband, Prince VonAnhalt), and her many talk show appearances, where she would make pronouncements like “Being jealous of a beautiful woman doesn’t make you more beautiful” and “A girl must marry for love, and keep on marrying until she finds it.”

She was a regular guest on Milton Berle, Jack Paar, Johnny Carson, Howard Stern, David Frost, Arsenio Hall, Phil Donahue, and Joan Rivers. She was also a guest on the Bob Hope specials, the Dean Martin Roasts, “The Hollywood Squares“, “Laugh-In,” “Batman” and “It’s Garry Shandling’s Show. Her one liners include “You never really know a man until you divorce him”, “I know nothing about sex because I have always been married,” and “I never hated a man enough to give him his diamonds back.”

Like one other former Hungarian actress turned Sexologist we know, Dr. Ava Cadell, Gabor believed in love, and believed in always remaining positive, no matter what happens in life. “All my life, I have always been a positive thinker… I have always been able to survive by telling myself that no matter how bad things are, they will one day be better.”

“There’s no better money to spend than your own,” advised Gsa Gsa.
