Jewelry Line Encourages Women to “Be Brave”

A new line of jewelry encourages women to “be brave” and stand up against domestic abuse and sexual violence. Brave Chick is the brainchild of Lejoi Reese, a RISD trained designer, and Dr. Janet Williams, a gynecologic surgeon. Their popular line of jewelry is made to “uplift, inspire, and give back.”

The BFF’s decided to stand up against violence against women after Reese became a victim of domestic abuse  and wanted to give back in some way. A percentage of sales from the jewelry goes to nomore.org, an organization dedicated to the fight against domestic and sexual abuse of women. Dr. Reese says “So many of use are privately dealing with the effects of misogyny, low self-esteem, and abuse. If we support each other we can be strong and inspire others.” Girlfriends are the best, aren’t they?

The sparkly “anti-abuse” bracelets, $35, are made with Czech glass beads, quartz, and pretty semi-precious stones with a BE BRAVE hand-stamped gold-plated bar. The jewelry  “captures the resolve and strength of any domestic abuse survivor,” they say, “and glass and gold represents the world campaign against domestic abuse in all its forms.”
